AIA Seattle is one of AIA’s the largest and most active chapters in the United States. Their old site was outdated, confusing to navigate and difficult to update. More troublesome was the fact that multiple databases, e-commerce, event scheduling and registration were cobbled together with multiple third- party vendors. This made management of the site and member service cumbersome, difficult to track and unreliable. Add to this that there are hundreds of pages of ever-changing content for multiple audiences – both public and professional – with varying needs and interests. | The new site features a navigation that allows AIA Seattle to curate content for different audiences. Because aiaseattle.org is a rich business resource, professional members return to the site for multiple reasons on a regular basis. Therefore it takes on the role of an online periodical. A modular approach to programming enables staff to design each page of the site more like a newspaper, changing layout and content to suit content types. All e-commerce and event registration is managed through a single back-end and integrated database. There is also a Committee Member communication tool allowing multiple groups to coordinate schedules, documents and events in a single dashboard. | The site has been able to evolve significantly over the past few years to respond to evolving needs of AIA’s members and the public.
